Mindfulness for Educators
Discover tools for enhanced focus, resilience & Emotional Intelligence
Mindfulness for Educators is an experiential course that combines the practices and themes of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum with recent research on the development of Emotional Intelligence to train educators to develop a personal mindfulness practice. Rather than a prescribed approach, Mindful Living NY course trainings may be adapted to last from 6-10 weeks and may be amended in other ways to best fit the unique needs of each educational environment.
By developing mindfulness skills, teachers learn to model calm, respect and integrity, which, in turn, enhance their ability to stay focused, present, and available to their students. Educators who practice an awareness of the present moment, who are equipped with techniques to recognize their inner experiences and exercise self-care, can better identify student needs and implement appropriate educational strategies, thereby positively affecting their students’ learning process.
Faculty will develop:
Increased attention, concentration, clarity and creative thinking
Practical skills for coping with daily personal and professional challenges
Enhanced emotional intelligence competencies and interpersonal effectiveness
Greater resilience and sustainable well-being
Heightened awareness of body/mind connections and new tools for self-care
The building blocks of a mindfulness practice that can be accessed in the classroom.
